Aimed at candidates with a strong academic career as evident in publications and a significant body of work outside academia. Candidates must be graduates (or equivalent) of at least five years standing and have already obtained a Masters degree, or show evidence of having received research training or equivalent experience in their working environment. The assessors will look for evidence of an ability to articulate a research project, a coherent and well thought-out plan for doctoral study, and a good awareness of the place of his/her research within the current field. The submission must contain or accompany an analytical commentary, the equivalent of a thesis, which will normally be between 10,000 - 15,000 words. Where the submission involves a performance or exhibition, etc, a permanent record of the work should be submitted in the form of photographs, CD-Rom, DVD or other recorded material along with the analytical commentary.
