MA Fashion aims to encourage visionary creative thinking in order to develop designers who are interested in exploring a critical approach to contemporary and future-aware issues with their practice. It has a focus on concept, engaging with the cultural nuances and perspectives associated with the design, production and dissemination of innovative and challenging fashion ideas and outcomes. With an emphasis on research, traditional approaches can be combined with digital and media technologies to provide opportunities for you to extend and/or re-contextualise your practice, pushing the boundaries of what fashion might be in the 21st century.
Modules include: Year 1: Core Units: Design practice 1: intention method synthesis; design practice 2 (fashion); professional platforms: Optional units: commercial aspects of design; contested territories; digital futures; health and wellbeing; images and archives; making our futures - ecological arts and sustainable design; negotiated study; object and context; sciart; the museum and the city - the city as a museum; writing research and funding proposals. Year 2: Core Units: MFA - Practice 3: contextualising; MFA - practice 4: realisation and publication.
