Masters in Medicine
Created in conjunction with strategic health service partners, our new part-time Masters in Medicine (MMed) is designed for foundation level doctors. Our course allows you to study and practice, so that you have a toolkit of skills that you can apply to your future career. You'll study core units such as Leadership in Clinical Care Settings and Evidence-Based Practice to provide you with transferrable skills, for whichever career choice you make in the future. You'll also study a clinical unit entitled Acute Medical Emergencies, which gives you an introduction to the management of common emergencies. In year three, you'll complete an Independent Study unit, focusing on a subject related to your chosen speciality. In your final year, your Project in Practice can be used to support your application for speciality training. We teach you via blended learning, through methods such as online sessions, face-to-face tutorials facilitated by local clinicians, and group work to help you network and share best practice with fellow students. Our MMed is a four-year course but if you decide on a specialism during this time, you can exit after 18 months with a PgCert in Medicine.
MMEd: Applicants must be a UK Qualified Physician or international equivalent. Overseas applicants will require IELTS with an overall score of 6.5 with no less than 5.5 in any category, or an equivalent accepted English qualification.
We assess the core units through coursework, and you'll also complete a project related to clinical practice in a field of your choice.
