This course provides a free standing professional qualification for practising teachers of art, craft and design. Students are encouraged to re-engage with their own practice as makers and consider how their creative journey might positively enrich and invigorate approaches to teaching and learning through art, craft and design. Assignment related course input includes engagement with the creativity agenda in art, craft and design and with relevant contemporary issues and initiatives, alongside museum and gallery-based research.
The programme is open to practising teachers of art, craft and design in permanent employment, with a degree in some aspect of art and design (2.2 classification minimum) and at least one year's teaching experience. There is no accreditation of prior learning.
PgCert modules: Creativity in art, craft and design and related museum and gallery contexts; maker as teacher/teacher as maker. PgDip modules: The creative journey-making as a personal pursuit; art, craft and design education-curriculum development and innovation. MA: Includes dissertation.
