Manchester Metropolitan University
Teaching and Learning
This practice based programme covers teaching and learning in a range of settings; the programme takes a blended learning approach to study with school based sessions and online engagement. The Professional Development Programme (PDP) in the Faculty of Education is our extensive suite of part time Masters (and Masters level) awards, specifically designed for busy leaders, professionals and practitioners in education and adjacent areas. A full Masters (MA or MSc) is 180 credits at Level 7. At Manchester Met this is divided in to 4 x 30 credit taught units and a 60 credit dissertation. With 60 credits successfully passed you are eligible for a Postgraduate Certicate (PGCert), at 120 credits you are eligible for a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip), and 180 is your full MA or MSc. From start to finish you can gain a full Masters in two years part-time, but there is flexibility if you want or need to take longer -up to 6 years for full Masters. We also recognise previous (recent and relevant) qualifications eg PGCE that can give you 'advanced standing' on many of our awards; this enables you to progress to full Masters even more quickly. For more details please see individual award pages. For information on fees for this course please see our online prospectus information.
