Counselling Skills

The PgCert in Counselling Skills comprises three modules: Psychodynamic Counselling Skills, Humanistic Counselling Skills and Professional Practice Issues in Counselling. It is ideally suited for those not wanting to complete a full Master�s level course, the certificate would be a useful postgraduate qualification for those wanting to work in the helping professions in education, health or social care. It is also useful for those planning to take further training in psychology or counselling.

Entry requirements

You will normally have a good undergraduate Honours degree of 2.2 or above (or international equivalent), postgraduate diploma or degree-equivalent professional qualification. You will also hold a GCSE or international equivalent in English language. Some experience is desirable, but not essential. Exceptionally, you may be admitted if you have an unclassified degree with evidence of the ablility to work to second class honours degree standard and have significant professional work experience. Prior learning and experience may count for advanced standing

Humanistic counselling skills; psychodynamic counselling skills; professional practice issues in counselling.

Assessment methods

This modular based programme is assessed through a process of continuous assessment.
