This advanced study programme provides practising physiotherapists with the opportunity to study for a specialised postgraduate qualification. In addition to studying a range of selected units, students will normally undertake four optional units - the combination of units will be dependent on the chosen route. Other aims include developing and broadening the clinical statusand knowledge base of physiotherapists to enable them to bemore effective contributors to their particular field of healthcare.In addition to undertaking the following core units: Research Methods, Data Handling and a Research Project, you will undertake four optional units � your personal preferences willnormally be informed by your area of clinical practice.
Applicants will have an undergraduate physiotherapy Honours degree (or International equivalent), or graduate diploma in physiotherapy with evidence of approved and relevant post-qualification education.
Modules include: Research methods, data handling, management of musculoskeletal chronic pain, orthopaedic medicine approach to the management of musculoskeletal conditions, the health professional as an educator, advanced musculoskeletal practice, evidence-based approach to neurological rehabilitation, management of sports injuries, analysing movement, clinical exercise physiology, cardio-respiratory physiology, evidence-based practice, independent study, clinical management for patients with neuro-musculoskeletal dysfunction, rehabilitation of older people, management of acute and critically ill patients, management of paediatric impairment and foundation for effective management within an organisation.
With flexibility being key to this programme, there is scope for individual time plans for course completion. Most modules can be taken as stand alone CPD units.
