This part-time course offer teachers at both primary and secondary level an opportunity to develop their knowledge and pedagogical skills in the area of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The focus of learning is you and your professional development, priorities and interests. We recognise that students in PDP bring often significant (personal and) professional experience and expertise; we encourage you to explore, utilise and develop this in your Masters study with us. A full Masters (MA or MSc) is 180 credits at Level 7. At Manchester Met this is divided in to 4 x 30 credit taught units and a 60 credit dissertation. With 60 credits successfully passed you are eligible for a Postgraduate Certicate (PGCert), at 120 credits you are eligible for a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip), and 180 is your full MA or MSc. Entry requirements

Applicants will normally need to hold an initial Honours degree or equivalent, or an equivalent international qualification giving access to postgraduate study; applicants holding postgraduate certificates or postgraduate diplomas may enter the course with advanced standing to continue their studies at the appropriate level.

Developing mathematics learning and teaching in early years' and primary settings; developing teacher pedagogy in mathematics; developing teacher pedagogy in science; dissertation; exploring mathematics teaching; managing mathematics for the primary specialist teacher; mathematics for the primary specialist teacher; misconceptions in advanced level mathematics; plant science in the primary curriculum; supporting the design and technology NQT in the induction year; the pedagogy of basic astronomy.

Assessment methods

Written coursework and dissertation.
