International Cultural Arts and Festival Management

This course aims to produce cultural arts and festival professionals who can operate globally in the cultural arts and festival industries. This is a diverse industry that covers a wide range of sectors including tourism, theatrical arts, 'live festivals' and any event that offers 'cultural currency'. The professional focus of this course, at operational and strategic level, gives students a range of opportunities to engage with specifically the festival sector. Our programme offers you an engaging environment to explore the issues faced by cultural arts and festival professionals; by completing a series of challenging, creative, real-world assessments including working professionally in industry, consultancy projects with clients and planning and running your own event. You will be offered the chance to undertake a 36-48 week internship supported by our Placement Office. Please note, if you opt to take the strategic life project unit instead of a dissertation, you will not be able to undertake an internship/ placement.

Entry requirements

This course is available to graduates holding at least a 2.2 UK Honours degree (or international equivalent) from any subject. Candidates with industy-relevant management experience may be considered. 

Course modules

Core units include: Creativity, innovation and enterprise; developments in strategic management and marketing; dissertation; events industry live; financial management; international events management; leadership and entrepreneurship; methods of enquiry; responsible business; strategic live event project management.

Assessment methods

Assessment includes individual and group written coursework, reports and live project work. The assessments are work orientated.
