Manchester Metropolitan University
MA Fashion Knitwear will provide the opportunity for fashion or textiles applicants with a background in knit to focus on knitwear design at postgraduate level. It aims to develop visionary thinking combined with the innovative application of skill. The development of knitwear is fundamentally practice-based with an emphasis on three-dimensional thinking, technology, materiality and fabrication. When combined with contextually and conceptually-driven approaches, knitwear can make exciting, new and innovative contributions to fashion and design more broadly. You will be encouraged to explore knitwear from digital, craft and virtual perspectives. Optional units will provide further opportunity to develop research and practice from a collaborative, sustainability, or digital/technology/seamless focus. This will be situated in a collaborative interdisciplinary postgraduate studio community, supported by well-equipped workshops. Critical enquiry and practice at the intersections of specialist practice will be celebrated, developed and disseminated.
