Financial Management

The course is designed for students with no prior qualifications in accounting or finance and focuses on accounting techniques and financial tools and  their impact on the day-to-day management of operational and corporate affairs. Students develop technical skills needed to interpret and critically evaluate financial statements and apply decision-making skills to complex situations.

Entry requirements

A 2nd Class Honours degree or above, or an overseas equivalent qualification. Applications from candidates with a non-accounting background are considered. Applicants must have competence in English language and grade C GCSE or an equivalent qualification. IELTS 6.5 (with minimum 6.0 in all 4 components) or TOEFL internet based 87 (with at least 21 in listening and writing, 22 in speaking and 23 in reading).

Course modules

Year 1: academic practice in business; corporate finance; corporate governance and accountability; dissertation; entrepreneurial finance; financial analysis and valuation; financial and management accounting; financial data analysis; key management concepts.

Assessment methods

Students' knowledge and understanding is assessed through a combination of presentations, group and individual coursework and written examinations.
