International Tourism and Hospitality Management
Students on this course study the knowledge and management skills used by professionals operating in the hospitality and tourism industries. Each module generally entails 2 to 3 hours weekly contact through lecture/seminar or workshop activities/tutorials and occasional fieldtrips and guest speakers.
A 2nd Class Honours degree or above, or an overseas equivalent qualification, in an appropriate subject. Applications from candidates with relevant qualifications and individuals with a minimum of 3 years' work experience are welcomed. Those without formal qualifications should demonstrate relevant work experience and the ability to study at postgraduate level. Candidates should have competence in English language and grade C GCSE or an equivalent qualification. IELTS 6.5 (with minimum 6.0 in all 4 components) or TOEFL internet based 87 (with at least 21 in listening and writing, 22 in speaking and 23 in reading).
Compulsory: Contemporary issues in hospitality and tourism; dissertation with research methods; management strategies in hospitality and tourism policies in ethical and sustainable development Optional: Destination management; festivals and events management; managing urban tourism; revenue management; work based learning project.
You will be assessed through exams and your dissertation, as well as other pieces of individual and group coursework and presentations.
