The programme is designed to create leaders and budding scholars in the field. It recognises the growing demand for strategic, collaborative innovation in the arts and cultural industries and the course, with its wide pool of modules, has been developed to address this need. Covering areas such as management, marketing, digital media, the creative industries, entrepreneurship, creative communication strategy and intellectual property law, this multi-disciplined degree gives you a comprehensive overview of the theory and practice of arts management. Its modules allow you to specialise in certain areas of expertise as a studies progress. The degree cuts across music, performing arts, business, computing and law.
A 2.2 Honours degree, or equivalent qualification, in an appropriate subject. We will consider applications from students with academic backgrounds in areas including business, sociology and law as well as the arts, if interest or experience in the arts is demonstrated by applicants. We also consider candidates with other relevant qualifications and individuals with a minimum of three years' work experience. Those without formal qualifications need to demonstrate relevant work experience and the ability to study at postgraduate level. You must have competence in English language and we normally require Grade C GCSE or an equivalent qualification. The most common English Language requirements for international students is IELTS 6.5 (with minimum 6.0 in all 4 components).
Compulsory modules: Arts management; research methods; independent project. Optional modules: Media and creative industries; managing and marketing events; entrepreneurship, innovation and small business marketing; working with the creative industries; directions in creative technology and digital media; intellectual property and media law; arts marketing; brand management; creative communication strategies.
