Forensic Psychology

Scholarly work is organised around psychological, legal and criminological concepts relevant to contemporary social issues and organisations. With a grounding in ethics, human rights, professional practice and research, training aids subsequent professional practice.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC), with the British Psychological Society, or the previous version: the Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR). Candidates will have a 2.1 Honours degree or above in psychology conferring GBC or GBR and relevant experience. Psychology students with undergraduate degrees from universities outside Britain are welcome to apply providing they can demonstrate that their 1st degree is recognised by the British Psychological Society as being equivalent for GBC purposes. Applicants must have competence in English language and grade C GCSE or an equivalent qualification. IELTS 7.0 (with minimum 6.0 in all 4 components) or TOEFL internet based 87 (with at least 21 in listening and writing, 22 in speaking and 23 in reading).

Course modules

Modules include: Advanced psychology dissertation; advanced research methods in psychology; conceptual forensic psychology; investigative psychology; practical forensic psychology; professional issues in psychology.

Assessment methods

Assessment is entirely through coursework; as well as your research report, you will be assessed through project reports, essays, reflective logbooks, other written assignments, and presentations.
