International Business Law

This course allows students to study aspects of international business law such as intellectual property law, legal conditions in the developing world and studies of the World Trade Organisation.

Entry requirements

Candidates should possess an undergraduate law degree (minimum 2.2). Applications from graduates in related disciplines are welcomed. Those without a law background are required to undertake a course entitled 'Introduction to the Law' during induction week. Applicants should have competence in English language and grade C GCSE or an equivalent qualification. IELTS 6.5 (with minimum 6.0 in all 4 components) or TOEFL internet based 87 (with at least 21 in listening and writing, 22 in speaking and 23 in reading).

Course modules

Compulsory: Dissertation; globalisation and trade; international organisations; international dispute resolution. Optional: Corporate governance and corporate responsibility; intellectual property and media Law; international human rights; international migration and the law; issues in EU law.

Assessment methods

Assessment is through coursework, class participation, oral presentations and a dissertation.
