Creative Writing

Our courses allow you to advance your creative ability through practice, discussion and revision. You will further your awareness of writing processes, professional writing and publishing. Our staff have received national and international recognition for their work. You will work with them to prepare creative work for submission and publication. Our courses provide a unique opportunity to develop and hone your creative writing skills. We teach creative writing in four strands: prose writing; poetry; scriptwriting, with a unique emphasis on writing for radio; creative non-fiction, with a unique emphasis on memoir writing, essay writing and biography.

Entry requirements

2.1 Honours degree, or international equivalent, in a related subject such as creative writing, English literature, drama or screenwriting; applicants with lower or non-standard qualifications are considered on an individual basis; along with the application prospective students will be asked to submit examples of their creative writing, including 2 short stories, 6 poems or a script; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0 or equivalent.
