Phonetics and Phonology
This course is designed for students who wish to develop an advanced theoretical and analytical grounding in Phonetics and Phonology. The focus is on its application in 1st and 2nd language acquisition, sociolinguistics, speech science, and language patterning. The Integrated PhD has a substantial taught and assessed component, as well as a supervised research element. The foundation is a common core of modules dealing with essential theoretical issues and research methods. Students are also offered specialised modules which act as the basis for their thesis. Having an individual course of study based on needs and sponsor's requirements.
A 2.1 Honours degree and master's degree, or international equivalent, in an appropriate subject; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0 (with a minimum of 6.5 in writing and 6.0 in all other sub-sections), or equivalent.
