Classics and Ancient History
This course is designed primarily for students who have studied Latin, Greek or classical studies in their first degree. It aims to improve their knowledge of classical language, literature and culture.
A 2.1 Honours degree, or international equivalent, in classics, classical studies, or a related field. Applicants with lower or non-standard qualifications will be considered on an individual basis. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.5 in writing) or equivalent.
Modules include: Research skills and dissertation training; dissertation; Optional modules: Approaches to classics research 1 and approaches to classics research 2; approaches to ancient history research 1 and approaches to ancient history research 2; graduate seminar in Greek archaeology; graduate seminar in byzantine archaeology; graduate seminar in armies and frontiers of the roman world.
