British History

This programme provides you with the opportunity to study the political, social, economic and cultural history of the British Isles. We offer intensive teaching in the methodologies and concepts used by historians. The course covers a wide range of British history from early medieval to modern periods and includes historical methodology and concepts, ideas and influences, reform and reaction.

Entry requirements

A 2.1 Honours degree, or international equivalent, in history or a related subject such as: politics; economics; English; sociology. We will also consider your application on an individual basis if you have lower or non-standard qualifications. Applicants whose 1st language is not English will need IELTS 6.5 (with at least 6.5 in writing), or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: The practice of history; pathway in British history; research skills and dissertation training; dissertation. Optional modules: Reform and resistance in British history; ideas and influences in British history; independent study project in history or; independent study project in history.
