Professional Translation for European Languages

This course provides a grounding in professional practice and academic theory of translating between English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. The focus is on translating (i.e. written transfer) rather than on interpreting (i.e. spoken transfer). The balance between practical translator training, professional studies, and translation-theory input means that this MA provides both an entry-level qualification into the translation profession and a preparation for a research degree at a higher level. Practical translation work is combined with learning about the profession and how to enter it.
