Latin American Interdisciplinary Studies

This course provides specialist training in social, political, and cultural theory, with focus on interdisciplinary research methods. Language training is also available, including intermediate Spanish or Portuguese, and beginners' Quechua. The course is distinctively multi-disciplinary. It combines social science, arts and humanities perspectives to provide an understanding of how Latin America has grown out of colonialism to develop a unique and diverse mix of cultural traditions that acquire new forms and significance in today's globalised world.

Entry requirements

A 2.1 Honours degree, or international equivalent, in any relevant subject area within arts, humanities or social sciences. Experience of Latin American studies is desirable. Native English speaking applicants must have studied another language at minimum GCSE level to study beginners Spanish or Portuguese as part of the MA. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
