Medical Genetics

This is a research-based course with a taught component that is equivalent to an MSc. It provides a springboard into a career that involves a working knowledge of scientific research. The taught component of the course includes subject-specific content in the area of medical genetics. Students have the flexibility to develop their own bespoke course by selecting additional, complementary modules. The research project comprises the major element of the course. This project will involve 24 weeks of research in an area of medical genetics under the supervision of an expert academic researcher in the field. The course allows students to experience an internationally competitive research area, predominantly in academia but also potentially in industry.

Entry requirements

A 2.1 Honours degree, or international equivalent, in a science discipline or an MBBS degree with high grades. Practical laboratory work experience is desirable, although not essential. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require a minimum of IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.5 in each sub-section) or equivalent. International applicants require an ATAS (academic technology approval scheme) clearance certificate prior to obtaining their visa and to study on this programme.
