This is a research-based course with a taught component that is equivalent to an MSc. It provides a springboard into a career that involves a working knowledge of scientific research. The taught component of the course includes subject-specific content in the area of medical sciences. Students have the flexibility to develop their own bespoke course by selecting additional, complementary modules. Their research project comprises the major element of the course. This project will involve 24 weeks of research in an area of medical sciences under the supervision of an expert academic researcher in the field. The course allows students to experience an internationally competitive research area, predominantly in academia but also potentially in industry.

Entry requirements

A 2.1 Honours degree or international equivalent, in a science discipline or an MBBS degree with high grades. Practical laboratory work experience is desirable, although not essential. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require a minimum of IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.5 in each sub-section) or equivalent.
