Restorative Dentistry

The aim of the course is to enable dentists to acquire advanced skills and knowledge in the field of restorative dentistry, integrating theory with practice. It provides the foundations for: enhanced general dental practice; specialist practice (overseas); part of specialist training within restorative dentistry (but only if you are enrolled on a training programme recognised by the Northern Deanery eg Specialist Registrar in Restorative Dentistry); clinical academia; community dental services.

Entry requirements

A dental degree recognised by the General Dental Council as being sufficient for the purposes of temporary registration. At least 1 year of post qualification experience at the start of the programme is required (2 years of experience preferred); applicants must have the required immunisation against blood born viral disease before starting the programme and must not have any disease which would constitute a hazard to patients otherwise they will not be allowed clinical access; applicants will be given a health check soon after registration by the Occupational Health Department of the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust; there is no formal interview for entry to this Masters, although applicants are encouraged to visit the School of Dental Sciences to discuss their studies; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 (ideally 6.5 in all sub-sections) or equivalent.
