Praxis Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Studies

Praxis CBT is an established and innovative online training package developed by Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHD Foundation Trust. It provides core training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with accompanying academic and supervisory support for those starting out in the CBT field. It was developed by reputable therapists and researchers in the field of CBT training and supervision. The web-based training programme demonstrates CBT in a straightforward yet stimulating and highly interactive way, using a step-by-step, flexible approach and several video examples of key practice elements which has been commended by service leads, managers and students alike. The programme provides an introduction to the theoretical models, the core principles and the evidence base which underpins CBT. The award aims to facilitate the development of skills and knowledge which will inform practice regardless of professional affiliation, service or setting. It can also be used as the basis to develop study of a broader range of other evidence based psychological theories and approaches or as preparation to embark on specialist practitioner training in CBT. Praxis is ideal for those too busy or too geographically remote to attend classroom teaching. The fact that each module has 3 intakes per year allows a great deal of flexibility for part time students that continue to work in health and social care settings while they are studying and they have up to 5 years to complete the award.
