This course equips you with an understanding of naval architecture and its practical application. Students gain knowledge in ship design, hydrodynamic performance, ship production and structures. Teaching is by lectures, practical sessions, seminars and personal supervision. It uses expert staff based in the School of Marine Science and Technology. You choose from a variety of naval architecture related topics for your dissertation using the research strengths of the School. Subjects include: ship design; hydrodynamic performance; production and/or ship structures. More diverse subjects will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Students also benefit from taking part in projects sponsored directly by industry partners whenever they are available.
A 2.1 Honours degree, or international equivalent, in a related discipline. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
