Supervision is available in our three research groups: Bayesian methodology, bioinformatics and biostatistics. Postgraduate research proposals are welcome in any of these three areas. Research postgraduates in the School of Mathematics and Statistics are supported by a team of experts in their chosen fields. They also have the opportunity to develop and enhance their skill set through appropriate research training. PhD students are supported by team supervision. They also go through a research training analysis to identify any skills that they need to develop. The deparment has broad research interests covering applied and medical statistics, and a lively seminar programme.

Entry requirements

A 2.1 Honours degree in computing science, mathematics, physics, statistics or another strongly quantitative discipline, or an international equivalent. MMaths and MPhys degrees are also accepted. International students: applicants whose 1st language is not English require a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. International applicants may require an ATAS (Academic Technology Approval Scheme) clearance certificate prior to obtaining their visa and to study on this programme, you will be informed of this in your offer letter.
