Design and Manufacturing Engineering

This course develops students' knowledge, understanding, skills and �know how� in the field of design and manufacturing engineering. Students are provided with advanced knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering principles, practices, materials, components and systems; critical awareness of constraints and limitations; application of methods and solutions for processes, products or systems; safe systems, codes of practice and ways that promote sustainability.

Entry requirements

A lower 2nd Class Honours degree, or international equivalent, in mechanical engineering, maths, physics or a related discipline, such as automotive, aeronautical or design engineering; Applicants with a BTEC in mechanical engineering or an engineering degree of a comparable level in a less relevant discipline, such as agricultural engineering or electrical engineering will be considered; applicants whose 1st language is not English require: if you have achieved a 2.1 Honours degree: IELTS 6.0 or equivalent; if you have achieved a 2.2 Honours degree: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent; international applicants require an ATAS (Academic Technology Approval Scheme) clearance certificate prior to obtaining their visa and to study on this programme.
