Make Space for Art
This programme is designed to support primary education professionals to identify and articulate the place of art in the curriculum as a tool for enrichment, enjoyment, personal expression and celebration. The course will provide students with the skills needed to develop and deliver new approaches to teaching and learning. Make Space for Art is delivered by Newman University in partnership with The New Art Gallery Walsall. Students will engage in a hands on, creative activity in a gallery setting (The New Art Gallery Walsall) working alongside, and being supported by, professional artists. They will attend university based sessions to discuss and debate key issues affecting delivery of art in primary schools and exhibit practical responses in a gallery setting.
Applicants should have a degree and be working with children in a relevant setting. The Make Space for Art programme has been designed specifically for primary teachers. However, colleagues from other phases of education are also welcome to apply. No prior experience of art and design is required for entry to this course.
