The programme addresses key issues: the provision of women-centred care, maintaining normality in childbirth, the development of essential skills for midwives and the role of the midwife in the promotion of public health.
Modules include: providing women centered care; providing women centered care; theory for midwifery practice; providing woman centred care; leading and developing midwifery care; evaluation of midwifery care and practice.
The course is practice focused with students spending 60 per cent of their time in clinical practice. Practice assessment is graded and contributes to module marks along with essays, a clinical simulation examination and a leadership tool box.
