Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

This course develops students' knowledge of language and language study and also examines theories which might lie behind their teaching practices.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a good Honours degree or equivalent and be able to demonstrate an interest in becoming a teacher of English to speakers of other languages; applications from international students are particularly welcome; applicants should have an IELTS score of 6.5 or TOEFL equivalent; international students without the required level of English may be asked to undertake additional English language training.

Course modules

Modules include: dissertation; TESOL syllabus and materials design; the professional practice of TESOL; issues and trends in classroom language teaching; investigating language for TESOL.
