Criminology and Criminal Justice

This course develops critical examination and historical study, comparative and contemporary theory, research and practice developments in crime, governance and social justice. It will develop critical understanding, analysis and interpretation of the key themes, theories, issues and political debates concerning crime, crime control and social justice in the UK and beyond.

Entry requirements

A 2.2 or higher degree in a social science related subject, an equivalent professional qualification and/or relevant experience; written application; applicants may be invited for interview. English language requirements are the equivalent of IELTS 7.0.

Course modules

Modules include: contemporary challenges in criminal justice; crime, space and place; theorising crime and social controls; researching crime and criminal justice; social science postgraduate dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by presentations, essays and a research project.
