Arts and Media Management
Core modules equip students with an understanding of the necessary knowledge of cultural management, and encourage students to consider enterprise and entrepreneurialism in this context; the programme synthesizes critical examination of cultural management theory and practices with the wider background, policies, theories and principles of working in the arts, cultural and creative industries; cultural management within the artistic, creative and cultural contexts is becoming increasingly internationalised and the global nature of cultural management in each of the degree areas is explored within the context of international policy, funding and advances in collaborative working; the programme addresses the nature and process of managing a creative and cultural organisation and recognises that managing staff, teams and volunteers and strategies for workforce development are key elements of the cultural manager�s role.
Candidates should possess 1 of the following:a degree in an arts related area; a degree in a non-arts related area with a proven interest in an art form or aspects of cultural management and or considerable relevant work experience.
Working in mass communication industries; post modern media culture; organisational management in cultural and non commercial organisations; dissertation; the cultural manager.
