English Literature

The course reflects staff interests and expertise across periods and locations, from the early modern period to contemporary fiction, American literature and theories of sexuality. Students are supported by a framework of modules designed to aid the acquisition of a wide range of knowledge and skills in the humanities and specific to the study of literature. The programme also creates a bridge to further postgraduate research and/or to relevant careers on top of strong undergraduate degrees in humanities' subjects. The aim of the programme is to provide graduate students with knowledge and understanding of literary studies; relevant knowledge of research methods and critical theories; to provide training in appropriate humanities' skills; and to foster the acquisition of further professional skills such as communication, self-management and planning.

Entry requirements

Good 1st degree in a relevant subject.

Modules include: research methods: traditional and digital; critical contexts; dissertation.
