Service Design

This course will enable students to explore their theoretical and professional understanding of service design. It is based upon a core of research, reflection and commercialisation with specific service design modules feeding into student initiated, and externally sponsored projects.

Entry requirements

Admission to the programme is not restricted to those with a design background. Applicants from any academic area are welcome as long as they can demonstrate an interest in design. Applicants will normally be required to have a Bachelor Degree with 1st or 2nd Class Honours or other qualifications and professional experience that are deemed equivalent. English language requirements: IELTS score of 6.5 (or above) with a minimum score in each component of reading, writing, listening and speaking of 5.5; or Pearson Academic score of 62 (or above) with a minimum score in each component of reading, writing, listening and speaking of 51; or TOEFL IBT score of 89 (or above) with a minimum score in each component of reading 18, writing 17, listening 17 and speaking 20.

Course modules

Modules include: design project by learning contract; service design contexts; service design practices; design thinking; design process; E.S.A.P. in FADSS level 7.
