Safety, Health and Environmental Management

This programme is designed to provide the underpinning knowledge and skills for those interested in a career in the growing and increasingly integrated fields of safety, health and environmental management. With risk management as an underpinning theme, this programme explores approaches to the management of legal and wider sustainability challenges collectively faced by organisations in the 21st century. Following the taught component, which makes up the Postgraduate Diploma, there is an opportunity to undertake a research or work based project to attain a full Master's award.

Entry requirements

Minimum 2.2 in a pure or applied science discipline but candidates with a strong past academic performance in a non-science discipline will be considered following interview. International/English language requirements: IELTS score of 6.5 (or above) with a minimum score in each component of reading, writing, listening and speaking of 5.5; or Pearson Academic score of 62 (or above) with a minimum score in each component of reading, writing, listening and speaking of 51.

Course modules

Areas of study include: environmental protection and health; risk management; law and compliance; environmental management in practice; managing for health and safety; research methods and project management; research or work based dissertation.
