Psychoanalytical Observation Studies

This course provides opportunities for experimental learning through the weekly observation of newborn babies in their homes, in the infant observation modules. Secondly, students are concurrently offered larger seminar discussions based on reading selected psychoanalytic theory, in particular Freud and Melanie Klein, and recent child development literature.

Entry requirements

Honours degree in a related subject with a minimum of a 2.2 classification and at least 1 years experience of work with children, young people and or families in a professional capacity. English language requirements: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL (575 paper-based, 90 internet-based) or equivalent.

Modules include: interactive work with children young people and parents; infant observation 1; psychoanalytical theory 1; child development research; personality development; interactive work with children young people and parents 2; infant observation 2; psychoanalytic theory 2; young child observation.
