This course prepares health professionals to enhance their own practice or to take on the challenges of healthcare leadership. It is aimed at healthcare practitioners who have registration in their own country or who have considerable experience of healthcare management and leadership. The programme offers the opportunity to explore healthcare practice, healthcare service delivery and to develop knowledge and skills in research methods and service improvement. It is anticipated that students will be drawn from across the world allowing students an opportunity to work collaboratively with other students from different cultures and healthcare systems. The programme provides opportunities to study contemporary issues in healthcare delivery from either a clinical or a leadership perspective.

Entry requirements

Upper 2nd Class Honours degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent. Or a professional qualification linked to the nature of the award e.g. healthcare practitioner, assistant medical officer.

Course modules

Modules include: research skills: approaches, designs and methods; global health issues in the 21st century; theories and health related evidence; health care practice and practice knowledge.

Assessment methods

A variety of assessment approaches will be used to assess each module as well as to develop the student's ability to write academic assignments and to improve their skills in presenting information to others.
