Law

This programme offers flexibility and choice to students and will appeal to a broad range of people whether employed in the legal sector or who have an interest in specific aspects of legal areas which are relevant to their employment or personal development. Students can tailor their Master's programme to meet their own interests and aspirations. Students can choose to study subjects from a whole range of modules offered across the Law School's other LLM programmes. Students must study a total of 6 modules and undertake a research project to be awarded an LLM. The programme commences with a module in legal research and study skills to allow students to develop the necessary skills to successfully complete the programme assessments. The legal research and study skills module involves group work (face to face or on line depending upon whether the student is studying full time or by distance learning) and peer review of formative written work. There is no end point assessment. Instead, students are required to participate in a series of tasks. Students study the majority of the later modules independently, completing individual assignments.

Entry requirements

The programme is open to lawyers and non-lawyers. The standard entry requirements are either a degree in law or another discipline from a UK university or other relevant professional qualifications. Students may also be considered for enrolment on certain programmes if they can demonstrate sufficient work related experience.

Assessment methods

Students wishing to gain the LLM must complete a researched project of 15,000-17,000 words on a related area of law.
