Moving Image and Sound

The course provides students with the opportunity to engage in specialist study within the context of contemporary moving image and sound. The course supports studio practice, research and contextual study along with the development of your business and professional skills. The course encompasses the acquisition of specialist conceptual and technical skills and knowledge required for the professional practitioner to pursue a career in the audio-visual and creative industries. Students will be expected to demonstrate breadth, depth and originality in their experimentation with concepts, issues and materials relating to moving image. Through intensive study and comprehensive technical workshops students will refine the practical and conceptual skills necessary to create original, thought-provoking work. Students may choose to specialise in the following areas: audio-visual production, sound design, film, motion graphics, traditional and Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) 2D and 3D animation, character and asset development for games, scripting and narrative, pre- and post-production skills and techniques.

Entry requirements

The offer of entry is based on an expectation that you have the potential to fulfil the aims of the course of study and achieve the standard required to successfully complete the award. Entrants should normally have achieved a BA (Hons)/BSc Degree of 2.1 or above (or its equivalent), in a subject related to your proposed course of study. Applicants who hold a Degree from another discipline may also be considered for entry, subject to the submission of a satisfactory portfolio of art, design or media-related work in support of their application.

Students are assessed using clearly identified criteria and requirements, and these are explained to the student at the start of each module.
