Communication Design

The course touches on every aspect of 21st century life. It is of fundamental importance to the way we relate to each other and our environment. You'll be encouraged to challenge conventional thinking as you consider the practical application of your ideas. As part of a community of tutors, researchers, visiting lecturers and fellow students you will engage in debate concerning new trends and research. Interdisciplinary collaboration is essential to the postgraduate experience and you will work alongside students from across art, design and media. This will support your intellectual curiosity and enable you to develop a network of contacts with different skills and perspectives. With access to substantial industry resources you can choose to work in areas including; web design, typography, product packaging, interactive communication, illustration and information design. You will be supported to develop the skills needed to stand out in the sector.

Entry requirements

The offer of entry is based on an expectation that you have the potential to fulfil the aims of the course of study and achieve the standard required to successfully complete the award. Entrants should normally have achieved a BA (Hons)/BSc Degree of 2.1 or above (or its equivalent), in a subject related to your proposed course of study. Applicants who hold a Degree from another discipline may also be considered for entry, subject to the submission of a satisfactory portfolio of art, design or media-related work in support of their application.

Award specific unit x 2; research into practice; self negotiated study; Master's project.

Assessment methods

Students are assessed using clearly identified criteria and requirements, and these are explained to the student at the start of each module.
