Nottingham Trent University
Learn how to achieve sustainable development within a framework of economic growth. This elearning course is designed to give you the theoretical and practical skills needed to develop, implement and manage a resource strategy for a public or private-sector organisation. Organisations are under increasing pressure to revolutionise business efficiency and the use of sustainable technologies through effective environmental management. As a result, there is an increasing demand for master's-level graduates with the skills and knowledge to implement environmental management systems in line with international standards such as ISO 14001 and EMAS. This Environmental Management Masters was developed by Nottingham Trent University in collaboration with Loreus Ltd, an experienced environmental training and consultancy company. This joint venture will ensure that the course delivers leading edge theoretical content underpinned by practical consultancy experience. **What you'll study** Although you will study much of the course by distance learning, it is important that you feel part of a coherent group and that you meet others on the course as well as your academic and commercial tutors. This is one of the reasons why the practical resource management module will be delivered as a seven-day intensive residential course. This method of delivery has also been chosen because it is the most efficient use of time for those in work or studying abroad. If you want to study this course fully online, you can replace the seven-day residential module with the Research Methods module to complete the course entirely by distance learning.
Core modules: Advanced Environmental Management; Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001); Research Project. Optional modules: Practical Resource Management; Research Methods and Bioethics.
The taught modules are assessed by a variety of different types of coursework. The research project module will involve the design, implementation and reporting of a major research task. Students take self-guided and formal assessments, including written assessments, oral presentations, online assessment tests, poster presentations and a thesis.
