This course considers the molecular biology of prokaryotes and eukaryotes and looks at how genomes are mutated, analysed and manipulated in the detection, study and therapy of disease. This Masters is focused on a large laboratory-based research project.
Master of Research - MRes: A UK Honours degree (minimum 2.1) or higher qualification in a Biological subject, plus laboratory experience gained through employment or an undergraduate research project. Appropriate experience or other relevant qualifications will also be considered. Applicants whose first language is not English should have an IELTS score of 6.5.
Research Methods and Bioethics; Research Project; Molecular Biology; Techniques in Macromolecular Analysis.
Assessments will take the form of: research project thesis, written assignments, case studies, oral and poster, presentations, laboratory report, formal examination, skills portfolio.
