Human Resource Management
This course meets the knowledge requirements that are pre requisite for Chartered Membership or Chartered Fellowship of the CIPD; the programme provides students with an opportunity for professional development and for enhanced career development at a time when postgraduate professional qualifications are becoming increasingly recognised by employers in all sectors of the economy; this course aims to develop students knowledge and understanding of the major elements of managerial, personnel and development principles and practice; it also enables them to demonstrate a critical understanding of contemporary issues and current thinking about organisations and their management in relation to external and internal contexts and provides the knowledge and critical understanding of conceptual frameworks, perspectives and issues associated with the management of human resources, in order to apply this to practical and organisational situations.
An undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK undergraduate Honours degree (2.2 or above) preferably in a business related subject. Alternatively applicants with qualifications at a lower level and experience will also be considered.
Human resource management (HRM) in its business context; people resourcing and talent management; learning and talent development; research methods and professional skills; applied management research report. Optional modules: managing employee relations and engagement; performance management; reward management; employment law; leadership and management development; organisation design and organisation development; developing coaching competence; designing, delivering and evaluating learning and development provision; e human resources; HRM in an international environment; CSR and diversity in HRM.
