Public Services Management
This course allows managers to pursue a particular management issue in depth through independent and individual research; this is then translated into effective management practice, alongside the development of crucial research skills for underpinning evidence based practice; the course emphasises and supports joint development opportunities to facilitate inter agency working and it also provides an arena to network with like minded professionals in the public service field; students complete 10 core modules across the programme.
An undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK undergraduate Honours degree and/or professional qualifications at degree level or above; ideally the course is aimed at applicants who are in or have recent experience of their first managerial role and/or are preparing for more senior roles; experienced managers without specific management qualifications; practitioners with prior management training or management qualifications at degree level or lower; applicants need to be in employment or able to gain access to an organisation upon which to base their assignments.
Modules include: the public services managers; managing people and performance; managing performance and quality in public service delivery.
Students complete 3 assignments spaced throughout the year, plus an optional practice assignment.
