Nottingham Trent University
This is a fast track conversion course for graduates from disciplines unrelated to construction and real estate, which leads to Chartered Surveyor status. This is one of a suite of MSc courses which provide the academic foundation for holders of 1st degrees in an unrelated subject area to obtain an accredited route into the real estate and construction industries.
A good Honours degree, or equivalent, in a subject unrelated to property and construction; overseas students should be able to demonstrate English language proficiency to the level IELTS 6.5, TOEFL (paper) 560 with a written score of 5.0 or TOEFL (IBT) 83 with a written score of 24; language tuition and support in English is available.
Modules: law and ethics; property and construction economics; research methods and study skills; construction, investment and planning; professional practice; real estate management and agency; real estate investment and finance; real estate valuation and appraisal; postgraduate dissertation / consultancy project or internship.
A variety of assessment methods are utilised including: project work (individual and group based); independent written assignments and reports; research proposal and dissertation; seen and unseen written tests and examinations; oral presentations; poster presentations; personal reflective journals.
