Construction Management

This course is designed for graduates and managers in the construction industry who wish to work in the UK and international arena, along with endorsement from professional bodies in the UK. The course develops skills and attitudes with regard to construction, culture and business environment. It encourages social and cultural awareness and builds on responsiveness and coping strategies necessary in the global construction market.

Entry requirements

A good construction-related UK Honours degree, minimum 2.2 (or equivalent), or corporate membership of an approved professional institution. Applications are welcome from mature applicants with non-standard qualifications who have relevant work experience. These applications will be considered on an individual basis. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 with minimum of 5.5 in each component.

Course modules

Full-time (year 1): integrated working; managing construction technology; managing construction projects 1; managing organisations and people; construction business environment; construction health and safety; legal studies; managing construction projects 2; postgraduate research skills and dissertation. Part-time (year 1): integrated working; managing construction technology; managing construction projects 1; managing organisations and people; construction business environment; postgraduate research skills and dissertation (continued in year 2). Part-time (year 2): construction health and safety; legal studies; managing construction projects 2; postgraduate research skills and dissertation (continued from year 1) studies; managing construction projects 2; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include: examinations; assignments (including essays, case studies, portfolios and presentations); group projects; a dissertation.
