An ARB and RIBA Part 1 recognised degree, normally a minimum of 2.2 or equivalent; applicants are required to supply a design portfolio; mature applicants with non standard qualifications and appropriate professional experience are also considered; students wishing to enter the course from overseas should be able to demonstrate English language proficiency to the level IELTS 6.5, TOEFL (paper) 560 with a written score of 5.0 or TOEFL (IBT) 83 with a written score of 24; language tuition and support in English is available.
Year 1: vertical studio 1; design: intervening in the city; architectural humanities theory and research methods; management of practice and law; architectural technology and construction theory and research methods; dissertation / research project preparation. Year 2: vertical studio 2; dissertation/research project; design thesis.
A variety of assessment methods are used, designed to encourage independent, collaborative and active learning. These include presentations, projects, exams, and a dissertation.
The School will be offering a number of scholarships for students commencing their studies on postgraduate courses.
