International Real Estate Investment and Finance

Designed for those wishing to pursue a career in the real estate investment and finance business in international markets, this course is an addition to the established suite of Master's in building surveying, planning and development, real estate and quantity surveying; these 5 courses are designed for students with 1st degrees in subjects unrelated to real estate and construction; the course offers a foundation for a professional career in global real estate investment and finance markets; an optional international field trip; dedicated postgraduate resources; part time, full time and CPD study options; the course focuses on real estate markets and institutions, appraisal, finance, investment and development valuation; it develops the skills and abilities necessary as an adviser on these investment related aspects of the real estate profession; the existing 4 courses are accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Entry requirements

A minimum 2.2 honours degree (or equivalent) in a subject unrelated, or partially related, to real estate and construction. Applications from mature applicants with non standard qualifications who have relevant work experience are welcomed. These applications will be considered on an individual basis.

Course modules

Year 1: international property markets analysis; property and construction economics; real estate valuation and appraisal; professional practice; research methods and study skills; real estate investment; real estate funding and finance; postgraduate dissertation /consultancy project or internship.

Assessment methods

A variety of assessment methods are used including: project work (individual and group based); independent written assignments and reports; research proposal and dissertation; seen and unseen written tests and examinations; oral presentations; poster presentations.
