International Insolvency Law

This course has been designed to meet the needs of insolvency professionals with little or no experience in the field of international insolvency law. Although the course is primarily aimed at insolvency professionals in developing and emerging market countries, less experienced insolvency professionals from developed countries are also encouraged to register. The course serves as an introduction to international insolvency law, and in addition to the Diploma also attracts 120 credits at Master's level. The programme is supported and endorsed by INSOL International.

Entry requirements

Applicants must check with the institution to establish whether their country of residence is a designated one or not; admission requirements for persons from designated countries: qualified lawyers with less than 5 years experience in international insolvency law; qualified accountants with less than 5 years experience in international insolvency law; holder of a qualifying degree in law, commerce or business management and who has less than 5 years experience in international insolvency law; admission requirements for persons from non designated countries: qualified lawyers with less than 2 years experience in international insolvency law; qualified accountants with less than 2 years experience in international insolvency law; holder of a qualifying degree in law, commerce or business management and who has less than 2 years experience in international insolvency law; small practitioners who are active in the field of insolvency law.

Course modules

Course content: introduction to international insolvency law; overview of the legal and insolvency systems of the US and UK; the European insolvency regulation; cross-border insolvency in selected European union jurisdictions; international insolvency law in the united states; international insolvency law in Latin America (Argentina, brazil and Mexico); international insolvency law in eastern Europe (Czech Republic, Romania and Russia); international insolvency law in Africa and the middle east (Nigeria, south Africa and the United Arab Emirates); international insolvency in Asia and the pacific rim (Australia, China and India).
